Proud to be Celebrating 50 Years in Netball
The Matrics Sports Club Inc. which included a Men’s and Women’s basketball, tennis and netball team, was founded in 1972 by a group of Elizabeth High School matriculation students. The netball team played at the Elizabeth Netball Association and eventually participated at the Anzac Highway netball Courts in the Summer of the 1975/76 season.
In 1991, eight State League teams were introduced (one of which was Matrics Netball Club (“the Club”) to provide the top players with the best competition available in South Australia.
Following on from this, a National Netball League was introduced in 1997, with the Club contributing strongly to the players of the Adelaide Thunderbirds squad. Coinciding with the National Netball League was the opening of the netball stadium at Mile End which comprises 4 indoor courts and 26 outdoor courts.
Further refinements have been undertaken over recent times to the State League, including a change of name to the Premier League in 2011. The Club fields a Premier League team and a Premier League Reserves team in this competition and both teams were the inaugural Premiership champions in that year and have enjoyed numerous premiership successes thereafter. Furthermore, the Club also participates in the Winter and Summer netball season conducted by the Adelaide Metropolitan Netball Division (AMND) and City Night respectively. There are also other netball Associations throughout the State although the Club does not participate in these arrangements.
On average, the Club fields in excess of 40 teams in both the Winter and Summer seasons. Each of these teams requires a Coach, Team Manager, Primary Carer and an Umpire.
There are six grades / age groups in which the Club participates as follows: –
Age Groups:
Seniors: 18 and Over
Inters 17 and Under
Juniors 15 and Under
Sub-Juniors 13 and Under
Primaries 11 and Under

The Club plays its matches at Netball SA Stadium at Mile End and trains on a Tuesday night during Winter season at the Uniting Church courts directly opposite the Ferris Wheel on the corner of Greenhill Road and Anzac Highway.
